Competition

Please note the competition is now CLOSED.

PTA-SHOP is pleased to announce the first ever national book review competition. The aim is not simply to encourage the reading of high quality children's literature, but also to promote critical thinking about the story matter and the quality of writing. See below for a list of the fantastic prizes.

The competition is open to students in year groups 4-11 inclusive. Students may enter as many reviews as they choose (but only one review per title).

We have sought the opinions of educationalists around the country and have devised reading lists for each year group. (We do feel that this, in itself, is a valuable resource for parents and other family members who often find it difficult to choose appropriate reading for their children).

To enter the competition, each child should select one of the short-listed titles and write a review. We understand well that reading ability will vary enormously and so it is perfectly acceptable for a student to enter a review of a title which is actually recommended for a different year group. Click Here for full entry details

Entries will be judged according to the level of understanding and critical thought they display. Originality will also be considered by the judges. Writing issues such as grammar and spelling will not be a factor in the judging process, although illegible or incomprehensible entries are unlikely to do well.
